End Date: 1/31/02

Abstract: As part of a recently completed FHWA contract (DTFH61-99-Q-00053), researchers at the Texas Transportation Institute have developed a computational model to determine minimum retroreflectivity recommendations for overhead and street name signs. The project was initially planned to fill the voids of the existing minimum retroreflectivity guidelines for signs. However, during the development process of the TTI model, researchers identified numerous concerns in the previous methodology and implementation of that methodology to produce minimum retroreflectivity values for traffic signs. The concerns were presented to FHWA staff at ATSSA's annual Traffic Expo Convention in Fort Lauderdale in February 2001
